Library Cards

Anyone living within the geographic boundaries of the community or within areas served by the library systems with which this library has a cooperative agreement may borrow from the Hortonville Public Library.

A registration card will be given to any person who requests a borrower's card. Each applicant must present positive proof of residence (driver's license, Wisconsin State identification card, current utility or telephone bill, checkbook with name and address imprinted, or an expired OWLSnet Library card.) All addresses will be verified. If an address cannot be verified, the librarian will send a borrower's card to the applicant through the U.S. mail system.

Interlibrary loan materials will be subject to the rules of the loaning library.

Most library materials may be renewed for two borrowing periods, except for those materials that have a reserve. Materials may be renewed in person, by calling the library during operating hours or using the InfoSoup online catalog.

Generally reference materials do not circulate. Upon request, some reference materials may be loaned for a 24-hour period.

Reserves

Reserves may be placed by patrons either in person, by phone or through the use of the infosoup online catalog. Patrons will be notified by telephone or email when the materials are available. There is no charge to the patron for placing a reserve or for interlibrary loan services.

Fines and Overdues

The goal of the library fine is to promote the return of all library materials so that others may use them. The library is supported through tax revenues and the library must maintain the collection in a proper and orderly manner. Fines are the processing fees for overdue materials. Thus, the processing fees will be charged to those borrowers who fail to return library materials promptly.

  • Books/periodicals $.10 per day
  • Videos/CD-Roms $.10 per day
  • Interlibrary Loans $1.00 per day

If there is no response from the borrower after 45 calendar days, the matter will be turned over to the Village Attorney. All costs will be the responsibility of the borrower.
